Purpose of Support Services
The Support Services group of the Department Of Chemical Engineering is a resource lab devoted to the design, manufacture, installation, and maintenance of the department's research and undergraduate laboratory equipment. The goal of the Support Group is to help the professors and students develop their new research ideas from the drawing board to the laboratory with as little problem as possible.
To do this the department has created a staff for the Support Service which encompass two Certified Journeyman Tool & Die Makers and an experienced electronics and computer technician, all combined to give more than 60 years of experience.
Support services have a dual focus. On one hand, the electrical, electronics, and computer lab focuses on the construction and maintenance of the department's complex electronic systems. On the other hand, the machine shop with its design and build capabilities manufacture complex state-of-the-art research equipment.
