Eleven Notre Dame engineering students and alums have been awarded 2023 National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowships, and one has received an honorable mention.
The fellowship program supports outstanding students (undergraduate seniors and early-career graduate students) pursuing full-time research-based master’s and doctoral degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) or in STEM education.

Nicole Lukesh ‘21, biomedical engineering (CBE), received an honorable mention.
The purpose of the NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is to ensure the quality, vitality, and diversity of the scientific and engineering workforce of the United States.
Since the program’s beginnings in 1952, 42 recipients have gone on to become Nobel laureates, and more than 450 have become members of the National Academy of Sciences.
