Areas of Interest

The Kamat group aims to build bridges between physical chemistry and material science by designing advanced nanomaterials that promise cleaner and more efficient light energy conversion.

Their research efforts are centered around three themes:

  1. Design of nanostructure hybrid assemblies for next generation solar cells leading to the development of fundamental understanding of photoinduced processes in quantum dot and perovskite solar cells.
  2. Development of photocatalysts and electrocatalysts for energy storage and solar fuels generation, elucidating interfacial charge transfer processes and determining factors influencing photocatalytic and catalytic processes.
  3. Utilization of carbon nanostructures and 2D-materials in sensing, fuel cell and energy storage.
